Re: General Chit Chat

Pushy parents are horrendous. I've seen it do many times in athletics. Remember a girl my age getting no tea if she lost a race when we kids in the 80s. I'd have bloody starved! Usually down to no-mark parents wanting their kids to make up for their own lack of achievement in life. Blimey. I’ve see...

Re: A Borderline affair.Bolton v Carlisle, Home 20-04-21. 1900..

I don't think there were (m)any saying the performance was good on Saturday. So I'm fine with him calling it out. When I look at some of the things we were short of (from the match thread), "leaders" for example, I'm not seeing much of that outside of Sarce and maybe Gilks (who was outstanding on Sa...

Re: Dulux. New Spurs sponsors

They’ve just sacked Mourinho! Shame. He made them even easier to hate them!! That's got to be him pretty much finished now, hasn't it? Found out again. £16m pay off though, I'm hearing. If I got sacked I'd be given 30 minutes to get my shit together - at best :D I like Jose but I don't think his br...

Re: A Borderline affair.Bolton v Carlisle, Home 20-04-21.

Yup 4 left. My bad. I think I'm right in saying Miller is our 2nd highest scorer, this side of Christmas as a bloke that comes in for 10 minutes maybe 15 here and there...felt to me on Saturday, he wasn't on early enough, because we didn't have anything much to bring on, to stem the tide the other e...

Re: A Borderline affair.Bolton v Carlisle, Home 20-04-21.

They're all pretty much must win, until it's all done. Still in our hands at the minute, but 5 huge games coming up, in terms of what their outcome will do or not do for us. Carlisle are only 2 points off 7th, so all to play for there. Just hoping for a win for the Whites 1-0.

Well this thread is about European Finals and the Spurs thread is about watching paint dry - which is probably as entertaining. This probably needs a thread of its own! :-)

Re: European Finals.

Of course, another market is the US, where they still seem to get excited watching the same two teams play each other... But not soccer...not men's soccer at least...and European Franchises...can't see it taking off. Asia though... And here's the thing why wouldn't you play these games in the Far E...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO

The most worrying thing was how asleep we were at the start of the game. They just knocked a simple ball through and allowed the bloke to pick his spot. So complacent. Yes its the same at the start of the 2nd half of games, we almost always start very slowly & lethargic. Personally I think that this...

Re: European Finals.

There was also a tweet from Swiss Ramble that analyzed the losses booked by 11 of the 12 teams during the pandemic...They got to over £1.2bn. and in total over £5.5bn of debt between them...and the primary financing will come through JP Morgan so we can finally move to quarters, have roll-ins etc. I...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO

I’d like to think we could go into that last game at crawley in third. If we don’t it’s because we have run out of steam. Not through a lack of effort. We were never coming from 18th and winning the league with 3 games to go! Big game Tuesday. The obvious thing to change for me is getting either De...

Re: European Finals.

Five English clubs looking to join a European Super League? Really? No consultation with supporters? Is this them sabre rattling to secure a greater share of the wedge? Either way it's borne of nothing other than avarice.. No German clubs I see. 49% fan ownership there. No Socialist, me, but that's...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO

We lost a game. It happens. We will continue to play the same way that has seen us get into the Automatic spots. We have a process and now, an identity. It would be foolish to do anything else than keep on keeping on with it. Have faith. Newport away was the first time in ages (Mansfield Away?) tha...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO

See, "characters" is another of those confirmation-bias concepts (and not a word that was heard much when we were winning 31 points out of 33). I'd say Santos is more of a character than, say, Djorkaeff, but character does not equal will to win. Harry Kane's not a character, but he's gutsy. Chic Ch...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO

I don't think anyone's saying there aren't areas we can (and should) improve nor do I think anyone's saying we were at our best in some of the games recently highlighted. Whilst I have "winning" as the number one goal of professional sports teams. There will still be plenty of times we don't, which ...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO

The problem with that argument, is that whilst it points to some of our (or City's) failings in a given game, it also ignores that the style of play in question is the one that's put our destiny still (currently) in our own hands and has won City numerous titles and cups. If there was a way on any g...

Re: Top 5 of all time...

Could actually make a much longer list than five, and unlike some kinds of shows especially with news based satire they're "of that time and place." My top three wouldn't make me laugh much now (maybe the odd giggle) but in that place and at that time they did. So many missing from list of 5 though...

Re: Time to batter the fish wives? Grimsby (A) - Sat 17th Apr 12:30 KO

He means chill out and forget about it. Part of me still thinks we’ll enjoy next season more if it’s a promotion tint at L2 under Evatt as opposed to watching it on iFollow this. On one hand I’ve watched more games than I would of done, on another it’s a bit shit not being there now. What if Evatt ...
