With half-full/half-empty glasses scattered all over the tables, rose-tinted specs lying alongside black armbands and the supporters divided in opinions between hope and deep despair, the Sparking Clog vault has an uneasy atmosphere of tension and uncertainty this week. The swans are feeding on leeks and daffodils near the opposite bank and must , if they are truthful, see their fixture task a bit greater than ours, on paper that is. Alas, as has oft been said, "we don’t play on paper". The have Wolves, United and Liverpool to play after us, but at this stage who knows what about anything with certainty? Hopes of the Wilde one being given FIFA clearance in time to possibly figure are maybe a little too optimistic, as are those that our Korean wonder boy will play again this season. It’s all in the lap of lady luck and only time will tell.

Thankfully OC has hidden his MOTM trophy in the depths of his wardrobe, along with his Johnny Leach and Victor Barna signed table-tennis bats, his collection of previous club scarves and a bag of thirty pieces of silver courtesy of Burnley F.C. With that out of the way we might actually concentrate on grabbing lifebelts and thinking about survival. No doubt we’ll even yet hear about Brendan Rogers being a top rated manager, a terrific bloke and in charge of a very fine club in the Barclays Premier League trotted out. Standard fodder in pre-match talk we’re well used to. All that really matters is that at four-forty-five on Saturday we’re three points better off. Predicting the result is as misty as knowing what OC will opt for as a team and a formation. Caution has to go to the winds now and we have to charge into the Valley of Death with sabres rattling loud enough to disguise the knocking of a few thousand knees. So then, with Muamba banners and large pictures of the Town Hall steps on display, and as the swans head for our banks seeking a little more than breadcrumbs, a quick look at what the opposition think has been posted in the match thread.. A very fair summation in general, and not even written in Welsh.

Rose-tinters on, and half-full glass to hand, I’m still going for a positive prediction And, I hope a decidedly convincing one. A win for the Whites and some of those long-missing goals.

For those who may have missed the Swans preview, it’s at:
