Away Daze - Trotting to Arsenal with a head full of dreams

A brave new world and a spanking lies in wait as The Whites trip to Arsenal... or something else?
Our acidic army drove out one manager and ushered in a new one we liked. Yep, our fickle fans have driven the entire footballing world mad. We simply do not deserve to live as a football club. We're anti-football. We're anti-everything.'Bolton Wanderers Acid Army Killed Princess Diana?'
And so, when Coyle's first game came around, there must have been a few who were pleased to see us lose (provided of course, they hadn't gone back to forgetting we existed again). Ha! Second from bottom and a reality check for you idiots in the North.
However, the only people being negative at the moment are the press themselves. We're too busy getting into this thing we used to be into ages ago:
Optimism.
Naturally, the Bolton brand of optimism is filled with a certain amount of dread... but for the time being at least, our woe is very manageable as opposed to that stifling fear that choked us over the past couple of years. Right now, we've lost a game at home with a new manager and could well be faced with another defeat at The Emirates.
The one thing that feels different is that these games don't feel like the end of the world. Already, we've seen a positive impact from Mr Coyle. Under Megson, our highlights on Match Of The Day consisted of a couple of throw-ins and Jussi yelling at the back four.
Now, the directors will have to edit in some chances and passing from our lads.
With Owen Coyle becoming our new manager, faith in football is being restored. Our ship, once more, has a rudder. With direction and drive comes the support of the fans.
It's been noticeable that our terraces have been devoid of wit for the past two years and Coyle's arrival has seen the mood of the fans lighten considerably. We all know it's a gamble, but it's the kind of gamble we're happy to take.
Should we go 4-0 down to an impressive looking Gooner outfit, something tells me that those making the journey would be now more likely to ironically sing "We're gonna win 5-4!", rather than shuffling uneasy from foot-to-foot and wondering where the next ray of light will come from.
Coyle has given us our unity back and over the weekend, it felt like we were in the game against Arsenal... and you know what that means don't you? Once more, we can start thinking of the ties against the big four and start musing on the possibility that we may well just bloody a nose or two in our season.
With any luck, the first scalp will be at the Emirates...
