Oh no I'm absolutely devastated for him. Nevermind us, his WC dream is definitely over!

Such a shame for the lad

Gary must be gutted. Especially with the world cup coming up .. I know it was only a small chance he might get in the squad but now its zero chance.

How does a blood clot in the arm keep you out of football for 3 months? Sad

Massive blow for us, it's also feasible he may have already played his last game for us too if his season is definately over with. Absolutely gutted.

Danny Shittu, time to step up lad.

Well like you know blood clots in the leg sometimes require it to be amputated.

Won't profess to be a medical expert myself but I guess its all down to the root cause!

SSN have just updated saying Gary has been in intensive care all weekend while the clot was dissolved. Also said if he had played against Fulham then we could be looking at a much worse story. He now has to take some medication for a while to keep his blood thinned and cant take part in any sport etc ..

Whoever detected this then, and however they did it prior to the game on Saturday, well done to you, you may well have saved his life.

Goddammit, this is exactly what we were worried about when Coyle didn't bring in anybody at the back during the transfer window. There isn't an ounce of speed or athleticism between O'Brien, Knight, and Shittu, and there's very little composure. This could be a horrendous omen.

Apparantly he had swelling in his shoulder/arm during training on Thursday/Friday. He turned up for the game on Saturday with the rest of the squad and the swelling was worse and a doctor sent him straight to the hospital.
