I know it's his first full game for us, but Mark Davies looks the player we've been screaming for, for years!

I know Megson's ultra defensive, protect the lead attitude can have us wanting to cut of our own heads at times, but his signings (less one) have all improved our team. Now he's trying to sign on of the best potentials in the world today. If he gets him, we'll have gone from a slow, workmanlike, frustrating midfield, to one the rest of the Premiership will fear.

That kid today looked immense, exciting, creative, pacy. If he's genuinely as good as he was today I'll be one happy bunny! Due to the fact he cost us sod all, and we have him on a four and a half year contract.

God damn knee-jerker Mr. Green

He did ok, and grew in confidence. He didn't appear until 20 mins in for me. I like that he's not afraid to try passes - though we've had plenty of "tryers" - Basham, Joey, Cohen etc. His did tend to come off. And supplied a goal too.

Very promising

Excellent first game, very promising and he has pace which we desperately needed.

I'm not going to go overboard based on one game, but he made fools of players like England international Jermaine Jenas and right at the death he made a run where he went past 4/5 (I lost count) Spurs players then had the intelligence to take it out wide and hold onto the ball, rather than shoot or give away possession, that run reminded me of a certain Jay Jay Okocha.

His passing was very very good, spotting runners off the ball. He took men on and won, he takes a good free-kick...he pretty much (in his first 90 minutes) looked the complete package and everything we've missed.

If this isn't a one off, if he keep it up, we could well have a very very exciting young player on our hands.

Some big "ifs" there, but the potential looks incredible.

Don't think we could have asked for anything more than that performance. I watched the game with a Wolves supporter. Pure Bliss. Certainly showed a lot of promise and look forward to watching him develop.

Excellent debut, but we really need to look at which Wolves midfielder is keeping him out of the team, because they're better. That's the one we want to buy.

Mark Davies could be just what Elmander needs, to create chances from genuine passing.

Anyone know when Elmo is due back?

He might be back next weekend, if not, almost certainly the weekend after.

I'm struggling not to go way over the top on this one, but he was special. Obviously he's not going to play like that every week, but you'll not see a better debut than that.

Keep it going Sparky.

Yep keeping calm and such, impressed with his debut and could be a very useful acquisition on the cheap. Hope he stays fit and his fitness doesn't let him down like it seems to have in the past.

Ok, its very hard to judge a player from one game.

And this is probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever said in my entire life but....

On his run at the end one very clear thought crossed my mind and that thought was......

"Diego Maradonna"

Christ I must need help!

Don't worry. Michael Owen carved an entire career out following a similar run once

That was a fantastic debut and was my man of the match but I think we have to keep a level head on this and not build him up as our saviour.

A very encouraging start. One moment in the first half impressed me. He had the ball in midfield and everyone was shouting for him to give it to Steinsson who had made a run down the right. But he had the confidence to hold onto itl for a few strides and then played a pass with the outside of his right foot, by which time Steiner was in a much more threatening position.

Channel 4 could fill an entire evening with a run-down of contenders Mr. Green

Looking forward to watching this guy tonight, must say

I said the same thing on the MOTM match thread.

Mark Davies reminded me of Paul Scholes today. I dont want to get carried away but he was the best midfielder on the pitch by a mile.

He was head and shoulders above:

Modric (8m??)

Palacios (14m)

Bentley (Xm)

Jenas (6m)

Muamba (5m)

it says alot about the way managers turn to all these foriegners when there is quality like that on our door step!
