Greetings Wanderers. I have been a QPR supporter for over 70 years through thick and thin. I have had a lot of highs and even more lows. If I could have back all the money I have spent on following the hoops all over the country then I would be a very wealthy man now - but it has been, and still is, fun.

Primarily I come here just this once (or so) to offer my sincere condolences on your relegation. I promise you that this is not a wind up. I know how I would be feeling had we gone down and, as it probably was with you, I nearly had half a dozen heart attacks on Sunday as I sat with my handicapped son listening to the progress of the game (he doesn't have Sky). Phew, the relief! I still believe that we could have won the game had it not been for the idiot Barton. It would be true to say that the vast majority of us want to see the back of him. He has done us very few favours for his 80 grand a week.

I hope you will prosper in the Championship and look forward to seeing you back where you belong. There are many clubs in the Prem to whom I would not say that but I hold no grudges against your club. Good to hear that Owen Coyle is staying with you - I am sure he is capable of doing the business. I don't grudge you the six points you got against us; we got them back by, against all the odds, beating Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea - totally unexpected. You may be assured, however, that we will be doing our best to stop you getting four goals at Loftus Road again. Boy, that hurt!

Now that I am in the latter part of my 70s I guess my days of attending matches are limited due to cost (the pension doesn't stretch to it) and physical infirmity. Thank God for TV and internet streaming.

Good luck, guys. Don't be too downhearted - your day will come.

Thanks so very much. 70 years you say? That is quite incredible.

I wish QPR the best of luck, in the end you deserved to stay up. A performance like that with 10 men, away from home against a battling Man City side. Well I can't fault it.

Hello Oldtimer, and yes it was a good post. I'm the "Tango" old smugbollocks was referring to but it's better to just let him have the last word or you'll be here so long you'll finish up playing for Bolton eventually.

Ah, well my apologies. Tango has a different meaning for us at Loftus Road. Tango and Cash refers to Briatori and Ecclestone, our previous owners, who were a couple of real shysters and responsible for us struggling during the season as we were not allowed to spend to strengthen our squad. Therefore I say again that you have my apologies because I am sure you are a wonderful guy.

I'm just matchmaking!! no harm in that - you two are of a similar era and will have lots of memories of supporting less-than-fashionable football clubs through the decades to share...

what's the harm in that!!!

(Tango isn't usually this abusive - he just likes to call me names every now and again!)

:lmfao: Brilliant nicknames.

Welcome, friend. It's good to see decent folk make decent posts. Our Tango is a venerable poster of something like your vintage; thebish is a man of the cloth who loves to question this particular congregation. Both are good men, even if they don't always get on...

Good luck to QPR. I have a good friend who follows the Rs, and we shared the pain during April and May. There'll be a pint or two shared later this week, too. It's as it should be.

No, indeed I'm not a wonderful guy, Oldtimer, not at all; but absolutely no apologies needed, not even for thinking it.

<thebish is a man of the cloth>

The same description has been applied to me in the past, although incorrectly, as I am a Eucharistic Minister. Don't worry about it though - you can still swear if you want to! :D

I don't think you should be matchmaking Bish. It's clear that you have all the credentials to correspond with Oldtimer. A match made in heaven, you might say.

By the way, thanks for your post Oldtimer.

Perhaps thebish, TD AND Oldtimer should go out for a beer and a chat.

That'd be, er, nice?

not if it's in one of your noisy music pubs - we'd never hear each other... (which - come to think of it - might be a blessing!!)
