Greetings Wanderers. I have been a QPR supporter for over 70 years through thick and thin. I have had a lot of highs and even more lows. If I could have back all the money I have spent on following the hoops all over the country then I would be a very wealthy man now - but it has been, and still is, fun.
Primarily I come here just this once (or so) to offer my sincere condolences on your relegation. I promise you that this is not a wind up. I know how I would be feeling had we gone down and, as it probably was with you, I nearly had half a dozen heart attacks on Sunday as I sat with my handicapped son listening to the progress of the game (he doesn't have Sky). Phew, the relief! I still believe that we could have won the game had it not been for the idiot Barton. It would be true to say that the vast majority of us want to see the back of him. He has done us very few favours for his 80 grand a week.
I hope you will prosper in the Championship and look forward to seeing you back where you belong. There are many clubs in the Prem to whom I would not say that but I hold no grudges against your club. Good to hear that Owen Coyle is staying with you - I am sure he is capable of doing the business. I don't grudge you the six points you got against us; we got them back by, against all the odds, beating Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea - totally unexpected. You may be assured, however, that we will be doing our best to stop you getting four goals at Loftus Road again. Boy, that hurt!
Now that I am in the latter part of my 70s I guess my days of attending matches are limited due to cost (the pension doesn't stretch to it) and physical infirmity. Thank God for TV and internet streaming.
Good luck, guys. Don't be too downhearted - your day will come.
Thanks.
But: Joey Barton on 80 grand a week ...
