Another sign that the sophistication of our behind-the-scenes setup has declined since Sam left? If a company had to pay £2.5M to hire and relocate a highly-paid exec, I doubt they'd book him in the Holiday Inn Express and say "good luck, see you next Monday". Especially if the only alternative was relying on Zat Knight.

On its own this doesn't mean much I suppose, but the number of players lacking fitness and concentration is the real evidence that things aren't what they once were.

Anyway, I like Ream. Ridiculously calm, quick, doesn't tw*t the ball downfield like it's a bomb ready to explode. If he can build some more strength he'll make a very good Barclays Premier League defender.

Not just what he was eating though, is it. It's the fact that he'd just be dropped off at the de Vere and told "Someone will pick you up in the morning". Like 50's Quiff said - this wouldn't have happened under Allardyce. Remember how the club had gone out of it's way to set up links with the local Jamaican community ahead of Riccy Gardner turning up. Under Allardyce no player ever left because they were homesick, regardless of where they were from or how prominently (or not) they went on to feature.
Let me tell you something about Coyle and how utterly piss-poor he is at this kind of thing. That recent trip to Dubai? Well, it was sprung upon the players the day before they were due to set off. Most of the players had made plans as the kids were off school and asked if they could bring along their wives and kids at their own expense. They were told by Coyle that they couldn't. Coyle turned up with his wife and kids! (or so I'm told ;))

Are you sure Bruce? I knew it wasn't long before but I spoke to a player 2 or 3 days prior to the trip and he knew he was going then. I'll check with him over the weekend

Why is any of this being pinned on Coyle anyway? It's not his job to make sure the club looks after the players and it wasn't Allardyce's job either. They just say who they want, how much they think the player is worth etc.. They aren't going to be ringing up booking hotels and restaurant placements for the players.

I find it amazing that anyone finds it amazing that I think it's amazing that we left our new boy in the de Vere to fend for himself.

Amazing.

Not at all, mate, no. Hence the disclaimer. It was one of those mate of a mate of a mate's kids play in the same team as one of the player's kids, and he said................

Its ok ST your secret is safe with me.

OT I'm in agreement with bobo...the food thing caught my eye cos if a players diet aint right it can I imagine impact on fitness. Given he is english speaking how hard would it be for one of the lads to take him under their wing? I mean what do we pay Robbie Blake for?
