Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has been rewarded for a successful March by being named the Barclays Manager of the Month.

Oh dear, here comes the bad run.

That said I imagine we could have lost all our ganmes this month and he would still have won it... and probably rightly so given how well he aquitted himself through the Mooo saga

ok - these stats go from the start of the awards 2004/5 up to the end of the 2010 season...

looking at the results of the two League games played by each club following the date of the announcement of their Manager as MotM,

On 14 occasions (25.9%), the teams scooped all six points for two wins.

six made a win and a draw (11.1%).

14 won one and lost one (25.9%).

2 got two draws (3.7%),

nine got one draw only (16.7%)

only nine lost both of the games following their Manager's award (16.7%).

The average points haul for a MotM winner in the following two games was 3.02, or just over one win. Nearly 63% of MotM winners' teams managed at least one win from the next two games, against just 37% who did not even manage that. Hardly disastrous performances!

(courtesy of http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=17053)

If you think about it - you get MOTM for an exceptional month. the next month is statistically likely to be less exceptional - hence the idea that form is affected by MOTM. correlation is not the same as causality! ;-)

Deserves it as much for his efforts off the field as well as on.

Well done OC.

Aye he deserves it.

But the fooking football gods are doing all they can to relegate us. Injuries haven't worked, dodgy refs neither, so now they will try jinxes!

How many of those awards were for a team at/near the top of the league, rather than near the bottom? So ferexample, you can probably take out all the fecking occasions rednose has won it for a start. :-)

The amount of times he says the word 'Barclays' surely meant he'd win it one day.

Hmmm... I'd take 3.02 points from Fulham home and Newcastle away. I'd even settle for three.
