Have you ever actually been to Brighton and seen its magnificent regal splendour? I suspect not, as usual
Coz if you went you'd then be able to say, from a position of stregth, that Brighton is a shithole ... which it is.

I would agree (and yes I've been there). :D

I'd think Blackpool, or Salford Precinct, or even Bobo's own Wrexham before calling Brighton a shithole. Brighton has some magnificent architecture. I really can't see why you'd try to do it down, it's a splendid place. :conf:

I'd have no major objections to the argument, it's in the same sort of class as Blackpool, Salford Precinct or Wrexham (although it's a good while since I've been there). London has some magnificent architecture. It's still a shitehole. :-)

'Bobo's own Wrexham' IS a shithole. No-one would deny it, albeit that the countryside around is is pretty good.

But 'Bobo's own Wrexham' doesn't claim the airs & graces, nor get the attention that Brighton does & expects.

Now ... 'Bobo's own Chester' is quite another matter.

To be fair, a mate of mine has a place in Erbistock (Cross Foxes - one of the finest gastro pubs I've ever had the pleasure of) and the place is stunning. You wouldn't for a second believe that you're technically still in Wrexham (which is, in the main, an unmitigated shithole).

To be fair, a mate of mine has a place in Overton (Cross Foxes - one of the finest gastro pubs I've ever had the pleasure of) and the place is stunning. You wouldn't for a second believe that you're technically still in Wrexham (which is, in the main, an unmitigated shithole).
I llived in Overton for 5 years.

Where I live now is some cut above the norm also ...

& the next village, a mile away, where our friend 'Always Hopeful' lives is lovely. Just the town itself.

The Cross Foxes, btw, is part of a chain of gastro pubs, mostly in this area. Get to any of these & the offerings & setting are equally good. Here's their web site.

This is the one a mile from me ... the Pant-yr-Ochain.

Aye, but The Cross Foxes is 100 yards from my mate's door. :D

Don't know if you've ever been to The Boat lower down by the river in Erbistock? Utterly stunning setting.

Meanwhile:

Rest of North Wales - a veritable selection of shitholes ;)

Brighton is like most cities in the UK - it has its nice parts - the pavillion, the laines, the seafront - and it has its crappy parts - some very dodgy housing estates...

Further into Mid Sussex is far better though ;)

The Withdean was a dump. Apparantly the amex is quite nice, though not seen a game there yet...

He's right you know. It is lovely. It's just a pity the village isn't one mile further north - not only would it then be in England, but it'd also be that bit further away from Wrexham!

For those that don't do the student grunge/live-band scene (as Bobo does!) - that particular very clean toilet an be found at the well-known and generally well-regarded student/grunge live music venue: Hector's House on Brighton's Grand Parade...

I,m afraid I had that particularly horrifying experience the other night whilst on licenced premises. Had to get some random stranger to pass me some underneath the door. True story :(

Ditto yesterday on a packed train in Germany. Had to call for help from the people standing in the vestibule. Absolute horror show.
