Very simple really - depends on what input/outputs you have on your PC/laptop and TV.

For example if you have HDMI on your laptop and TV then simply connect the two. Plenty of stuff on net showing how it's done. It's not hard.

You can do it wirelessly but it's expensive and doesn't have great reviews. Google connect laptop to pc and you should get enough info. PM if you get stuck and I'll try to help - I'm a novice too.

This sounds like it involves me crawling around on my back.

Am just about to buy a new lappy (This looks like a good do. Anyone? http://www.argos.co.uk/BIS?partNumber=5 ... nce=TRK009 ) So will address the situation when I have.

What I want to do is to be able to order up films online and watch them on my tele.

Oh, and today I'm happy because it's someone's birthday at work. Ergo: Cream cakes :D

If all you want to do is watch films online through your tele you can just get a box that will do that. There are loads around and some will let you surf the web/watch iplayer etc. too. You can use a remote instead of mouse and keyboard for browsing from the couch!

Example:

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5322817.htm

If you still want to connect a laptop you need to make sure it has video output eg HDMI/DVI etc.

Quite a lot of new(ish) tellies havea computer port (VGA) on them anyhow, so even if you don't have HDMI port on computer, you can run it into the telly...

There's an adaptor that you could buy from scan or something that'll do the sound bit

Correct - but useless if your laptop doesn't have a video output. i know most do but I couldn't see one on the one Bruce linked to. Caveat emptor and all that.

The sound bit is usually easy via a earphone type cable if you don't have HDMI.

Am not a mind reader. Grrr.
