As this is the thread about racism within the wide sea of football, here is a sardine thrown from the conundrum trawler by the confusion seagull:
If opposition fans started making monkey noises and throwing bananas onto the pitch when Gareth Bale was playing, would that be construed as racist...?
... or just chimpanzeeist?

dunno why they have waited until now... but it's not that uncommon (is it?) for people with misconduct charges hanging over them the be suspended on full pay (without prejudice) until the matter is settled? Hysterical voices screaming "Innocent until proved guilty!" has been an annoying backing track for today!
