Quote:
Fulham boss Mark Hughes has resigned after less than 11 months in charge at Craven Cottage.

Hughes has been linked with the vacant manager's job at Aston Villa, although Villa have denied making any contact with the Welshman.

The 47-year-old also denied that he had been approached by another club before choosing to quit.

"As a young, ambitious manager I wish to move on to further my experiences," he said.

Wonder what the odds of Hughes as the next Villa manager?

Come on, chaps, be fair. He probably just wants to spend more time with his family. 8)

To be fair to him, he was only given a contract till today, he's just declined to extend it.

Radio also says that there are others ahead of him in the queueueueue for the Villa job.

To cut a long story short, with whats been coming out of the mouths of the Poison Neville Twins, I wouldn't be surprised if theres some Yernited connection in this.

Good manager. It's Fulham's fault for giving him a shite contract (Obviously not shite for the common man, but in football terms...)

Yeah, sorry, I know .... not a strength of mine, generally.

However, he's effectively done a Bosman. He was given a one season contract, so obviously the Egyptian grocer wasn't convinced about him initially. He's done a pretty decent job & has now decided not to take up a new offer.

..... not working is it ?? Hughes Out !! Hughes is a dick !!

That any more comforting ??

You sure about that one year contract bobo? I ask cos the Beeb is saying he had a two year contract and that he has formally handed in his one months notice and leaves on June 30th. Also he isn't allowed to speak to another club 'til that date. :?

Obviously not !!

It was widely reported that he was given a contract for this season only. That's been repeated this last couple of weeks too.

As ever, the devil's in the detail, but the fact that they seem resigned to losing him, not demanding compen and putting him a months rest/notice suggests it was a 12m contract. Maybe with a years option ... either way.

In that case either party has the option to take that up or not & he seems to decided not to. He hasn't done that with no reason, of course, so he'll be lined up somewhere else.

Meanwhile his new club will be negotiating retained/released lists, new deals and new signings with one arm up their back ... while Fulham can't make any plans.

Messy.

It was supposedly two years with a break clause of a months notice.

I heard it was a 1 year deal with the option of a second year, that he didn't take up

Latest is that he WAS nailed on for Villa, but he and his shifty agent Joorabchian have annoyed the Villa board by making strange demands..

They've told them both where to go

Telegraph said last month that either side could break after a year and that Fulham didn't bother talking to him. Very strange considering two things: first, that the Villa vacancy was hardly a surprise; second, that Hughes had led them to their second-best finishing position ever, eighth, about as high as you can get without spending massive money (eh, Sam?).
