It was a 50/50 ball to be won fairly. Once Evans left the ground feet first it ceased to be a 50/50 challenge and was at the very least reckless. As a professional you should know once you are in the air like that you are more likely to cause injury - that's why it is outlawed.

To suggest everything is OK as Evans has made a phonecall is bollox. Imagine the hyperbole we would be subjected to from Whisky Nose had the roles been reversed and Robbo had knobbled Rooney in similar fashion.

Anyone berating Evan's is either ridiculously biased, or just plain hypocritical. Absolutely no malice, but the ref made the correct decision. A total 50/50 challenge, and something I'd hate to see lost from the game, two players giving everything to get the ball for their team. Suggesting that Evan's "left the floor" brings to mind horrific flying kick-esque challenges, which this just simply wasn't.

Absolutely gutted about Holden being out for 6 months, but it happens to other teams as well. He's probably been one of (if not *the*) main reasons for our success. Let's just hope Muamba/Mark Davies can work, as we still have everything to play for.

I know its probably worth shite at the mo but this will stop the summer stories of him going to another club.

It's a real stinker for him as an individual but he's shown before he can come back from injury. Lets just hope its the same story come September.

If memory serves me correct, Holden had just come back from injury and Coyle played him right wing. Wouldn't have been as affective as he would have been in full fitness and playing center perhaps.

You must have been watching a different game mate. Giggs had a word, maybe Evra(?) as well, but there was no mass surrounding of the ref at all, absolutely not a typical Man U reaction on this occassion.

It was shockingly poor from Evans- it wasn't a 50-50, Evans was clearly favourite to win the ball because of Lee's overhit pass. A half decent centre half would have nicked it away from Holden and (possibly) taken a sore one himself as Holden challenged. He certainly had no need to go to ground and by doing so suggests to me that it was a cowardly attempt to avoid aforementioned foul against himself.

Clearly the loss of one (admittedly excellent) player has rendered us utterly incapable of beating Stoke City on neutral ground. Lets save the embarrasment and pull out of the competition while we still have the chance.
