See your point DSB, but the whole point of having the Davo type target man up there, is because we cant keep hold of the ball otherwise, due to our typically English fall back of, if in doubt, lump it forward. So if we accept that without the Davo type player, the ball is just going to come back anyway, surely it would be worth giving away for instance 7 fouls a game in relatively safe positions, to win 5 in the final third of the pitch? That of course relies on the assumption that International referees would give as many fouls for Davo as premiership refs.
