Don't mistake 1500hrs for 5pm.

I did once .... just once. It not something you repeat.

Haha. I went to Milan a few weeks ago and we flew at 6. Problem was neither me nor my mate clarified with each other that it was 6pm, hence I got a phonecall from him at Manchester Airport at 5am asking where I was. He had a looooooooong wait.

I don't generally travel that far afield - but do go to France every now and again (why not! - you can do a day trip from here!)

anyway..

every time I go - they seem to have added summat new to the requirements you have carry with you in the car..

it used to be a set of beam-benders and a GB sticker..

now it seems to be:

high-viz jackets (NOT in the boot)
fire extinguisher
first aid kit
reflective warning triangle
full set of spare bulbs

and NOW!!! from July - you will have to (by law) carry a breathalyser kit (preferably two) or else face an on-the-spot fine... :roll:

oh - and your sat nav has to have the speed-camera warning function disabled....

I once missed a filight home by 24 hours!

Me too. Stranded in Dublin after the connecting flight was delayed by 3 hours only to be told "It's nothing to do with us".

Top Tip - Never, ever fly with Ryanair.

Top Tip 2 - Use Lonely Planet guides when abroad, their hotel recommends are usually good (Rough Guides are nowhere near as good IME).

Top Tip 3 - Always use Tripadvisor before booking a hotel, but ignore the reviews by Americans

If you're travelling with Ryanair make sure you take extra money with you in case they decide to charge you for the optional extra of the plane taking off, landing and being allowed to board and depart the plane. Not to mention the luxury addition of pilot and co-pilot.

Yep. 90% have no passport, of the 10% who have half rarely travel.

Of the 5% who do travel, 4 of 5 think they should be treated like royalty for being so daring and compare everything to standards they know are infeasible.

The 1% left are decent enough chaps though.

If booking online and asked for the airport codes, make sure you input the correct one, ie Manchester, England is "MAN" whereas Manchester New Hampshire is MHT. Because we're England, there are lots of similar named towns and cities around the world and SOME of us, even professionals have managed to mix them up on occasion. As in you'd think the Brum England would be BHM, not so it's BHX, BHM is Birmingham Al, USA. The railways are also going along the three letter location code route so that's another one to look out for.
