Heaven: my wife's Shepherds Pie (finest quality minced beef, baked beans, onions, mash with layer of cheese on top) with sprouts al dente and smothered in Henderson's relish (or Worcester sauce at a pinch). Not only is it a gastronomic delight but the overnight farts it brews up are stupendous.

Hell: quite simply liquorice.

My friend that lives in a South Derbyshire village, lives within reasonable walking distance of the Marston's brewery (although it's now owned by Molson Coors). The Pedigree in the village pub is that good that I can't bring myself to drink it anywhere else, and can't possibly bring myself to drink anything else when I'm there. I reckon you'd approve, Axman :pissed:

Something that the locals also get involved in is Cockspur and Shrub, which is rum with alcoholic cordial. Like flaming Sambucas, or Tequila crash-helmets, this stuff only ever comes out when the last thing that anyone needs is more alcohol :pissed:

I thought you liked Spanish cuisine? Usually garlic heavy in my experience. Personally think you can never have enough....

There are two arguments I could put forward here.
Argument 1 is that there seems to be divided opinion on the difference between cottage pie and shepherd’s pie. For example, the opposite opinion to yours is expressed here:

I do not side with either opinion. My stance is with a third option (as elucidated by the Oxford English Dictionary) that cottage and shepherds pies are variations on a theme and arose in different locations (and the naming convention had, originally, nothing to do with the nature of the meat inside it). Thus they are interchangeable; cottage pie = shepherd’s pie = cottage pie.
Argument 2 is, if my wife cooks it and she calls it shepherd’s pie then shepherd’s it is.

I’ll refute your statement by referring to Argument no.2

Heaven: Meat Pie, Pasties, Steak of any kind.

Hell: All seafood. Hate the texture, just can't stomach it.

Forever: BBQ (Proper stuff like Brisket, pulled pork, pit chicken, ribs, cooked in a proper smoker and served with beans and coleslaw)

Oh and I couldnt live without potatoes.

Nothing I've ever had in Spain was over-flavoured enough for me to notice. Spanish cuisine is usually very good and you never get that garlic waft that you do in Italian restaurants. Now yu've gone and made me want a chuletas dish. That is quite superb.
