I don’t even know that we needed to sack Coyle and bring in a new man. Gartside just needed to say Coyle would be fired if we were relegated. It was just always so obvious that failure WAS an option. There was no incentive for Coyle to modify what he was doing.

you'd think the battering's from the first ten games woulda done that.

but no.

As disappointed as I am with relegation, I'm glad Coyle is staying on as manager. I don't think you get anywhere in football by being quick to react and even though everyone at the club is gutted to go down, Coyle in his previous seasons did do a good job. If he doesn't do the job this season, fine, get rid of him but given all the injuries and other issues this season, I see no reason to be quick to remove him.

The best example is obviously Fergie at United. In this modern age, he would have got the AVB treatment and been sacked quickly. He wasn't and look how that worked out. Sometimes you have to accept that things aren't working but instead of making drastic changes, work at fixing the problems slowly. Coyle wasn't a great manager when he got us into the top 10 and gave us a great FA Cup run and similarly, he's not inept now. Let's just see how things go this year.

I think the Burnley fans would disagree there

Well yes, I'm sure they were positively pissed off to high heaven at getting promoted back to the top flight for the first time in decades and not at all bitter because he jumped ship.

sorry for your team going down, but your chairman is a cvnt. I remember how classless he acted on twitter last summer over the Cahill deal and more importantly I remember him campaigning for no relegation to the PL. I wonder if he still believes in no relegation to the PL

She's obviously gutted that they got lumbered with a massive meat head who runs like he's towing a caravan in quicksand. In the meantime, the player we sold (for a MUCH, MUCH better deal) lifted a trophy (remember those???) a couple of weeks back and is playing the Champions League final on Saturday night...

I really don't think you do..... I don't think any club has ever had the option of being relegated to the Premier League...

anyway - you'd best be off bigging yourself up for the next "next season really is the season when it all comes good" frenzy, hadn't you?

well done on staving off spurs on the last day of the season, though - better wash those pyjamas now, eh?

It's going to be great in the Salford Sunday, when he's got them all paying three quid subs a week.

Funny how that works out. Chelsea pay 7M for a player who helps them win the champions league.

Arsenal win nothing yet again.
