By Gum, I remember when that lad didn't have a clue where his position was and the players around him had to point and shout. Daft sausage.

I recall he couldn't stand on his own two feet. He was always slipping, falling over......

I recall him actually getting a run as striker... his chosen position and scoring 3 in 4 for us.... never to be seen as striker again...

Even with Coyle in charge we will do very well especially if Holden is back and fully 100% fit - the priority IMO as many have said is an experienced good commanding centre half to organise the defence, and another decent striker who has a track record of scoring goals (unlike N'Gog who I'm not convinced will even score loads in the championship)

Sordell will be a revelation next season....

see - I told you where it would end up - rose-tinter, fully-fledged!!! 8) (unlike BWFCi - I saw the signs weeks ago!!)

He had 5 seasons in the premier league. Under the same manager. Computer says no. Cough.

indeed... he looks good in the championship because they all appear to offer West Ham acres of space... I doubt he'd be afforded that luxury higher up....

Kept bunging him out on the wing, didn't we?

Maybe he's just matured too, I remember an interview years ago with him in the programme where he said he only liked football when he was playing. He'd never watch other matches, he'd rather play on his Playstation.

3 goals in 4 games at the tail end of the 2004/05 season might suggest a bit differently. Shame he was plagued with injuries whilst he was here.

Bags of talent, and the raw materials. I'm keeping my own counsel on Vaz Te, he may prove himself a decent player up there.

I think i'm one of the few actually excited to see how NGog does next season. Although it seems he's been around forever he's only 2 years the senior of our next 'big thing' Sordell and despite actually seeing the two together for more than a couple of minutes I get the sense they could complement each others strengths/weaknesses quite nicely (the opposite of him and Kevo).

NGog had a bit of a rough season I felt, going from playing a comfortable second fiddle at Liverpool to being somewhat of a go to guy in a team in the relegation scrap and without the goal scoring record to justify such. To me he always has the movement, the strength, just seems a bit apprehensive in front of goal, always wanting one touch to many (damn auto correct!). I hope, rose tinters n all, that the championship will be a good level for him to find his mojo and get his confidence back up, hopefully he proves a class above and can start to justify the 4 million we payed for him.

(remember the thread title  )

Wasn't sure where to stick this but is just some stats from the last season http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thefootballt ... _that.html

Perhaps unsurprisingly Mark Davies had the best dribble completion % in the league, more surprisingly Reo-Coker was second.

Surprising but not astonishing. One of the things I admired about NRC was how difficult he was to get off the ball. Standing still his touch could let him down but on the run he seemed to know when to hold onto it and when to pass it on.

Davies has the more surprising stat cos most of his dribbles ended with a blocked pass just inside the penalty area.

I've seen a lot of comments on here about M Davies, more seem to be negative then positive, let's just remember that this is a player that has had a dreadful time with injuries over the last few seasons and this is he first real crack at having a run in the side

Now for me he has been one of our best players this season, yes lacks end product but that will come from experience and confidence, to have a player in his first real season in the premiership to finish top of the dribble stats against so many top quality players in this league proves how well he has done, not forgetting he is still to hit his prime.

He has looked dangerous all season in a struggling side, put him in a midfield in the top four and you're looking at the best attacking, creative midfielder in the country.

For me we should do everything in our power to keep Davies for the championship to toughen him up and run rings around their defence, have him playing more behind the front two more often and finally seeing the potential we have been waiting for!

Otherwise we will make the mistake of selling him for a few million and watch him flurish in the premiership till he finally makes the move to one of the big boys and Bolton will be left thinking we got robbed with the penny's we sold him for!

Or have him in the injury room if someone sneezes near him!

this is why you end up being wholly frustrated when things don't go right and blame anyone you can. you are setting yourself up for a fall. it won't be easy next season even if the cards fall right for us in the summer and we have the likes of holden & cyl fit and ready. it is a very competitive league and will be hard to bounce straight back up.
