Since the Norwich and Wigan defeats, OC's insistance on playing 442 has been like a thorn in my mind, so I just had to do some stats to highlight what most people already know. That 442 without the right players available doesn't work, that our 451 was working, and that, our results are not mainly about performances but about both performances and to a larger extent our formation.

I've put them in an image file if anyone is interested:

Yeah but 4-4-2 is more attacking, the games we lost were all down to the players!

Everything else is just speculation and conjecture.

(Nice work  )

It should be blindingly obvious.
When we played Stoke for example, they could have said, quite rightly, that was a result that was down to the players.
Pulis apologised to the fans, did something about it internally and they went on a decent run after that.
Coyle, to me, is just starting to embarrass himself.

Maybe a few thousand could be printed off & used as paper-planes thrown on just before kick-off.

I would have said "when he sub's Moo" but he's got round that by not actually playing him in the first p[lace.

Appreciate your efforts on this. Though statistically I'm not sure you can make conclusions on 4 games :)

But in general I agree with your conclusions, its pretty damn obvious. Shame the boss can't see it. Without doubt the loss of Holden was immense but I'd also add the playing of Elmander out wide and keeping Davo upfront in the second half of last season was a big mistake. It should have been Elmo/Sturride upfront. Elmander dropped deep to make a sort of link up man, we didn't really have that with Sturridge or with either Davo and Ngog this time round.

In essence we didn't have the right players to make a 4-4-2 work in the second half of last season and we don't this year. To me its no surprise that system is falling out of fashion, even when Man United play it they don't really play an authentic 4-4-2.

Clearly our success lies and the countless premier league trophies we'll win is in 4-5-1 with both Muamba and Holden playing!

You mean the famous invincibles team that me and Bobo led to champions league glory in 2o14 ?

Bogdan
Ricketts Ream Williams Alonso/NS Fletcher
NRC Muamba
CYL Mavis Holden
Ngog/ Sordell

And they dared to call him a clown

Course city then famously bought them wholdesale for 400 million and the fledgeling replacement team died in a freak training gound accident rumoured to involve Zat Knight, Lofty the Lion and Blake's arse.

Averaging at 1.38pts/game (4-5-1) last season and 1.75pts/game (same) this season, we can realistically hope to achieve 18-23 points out of our remaining 13 games if we stick with 4-5-1.

That will most likely mean survival as most are touting 37-38 points this year to keep a team up. Basically put, if Coyle attempts a 4-4-2 again this season again and loses, he should be sacked. Harsh I know, but survival is more important. We have the players to do it, he's just gotta sort out his tactics.

maybe you are right is better for bolton to play this tactic but i preffer the old and warmy 4-4-2 its may be too academic but geometric so perfect without any weakneses vizible.

Our weakneses are our results,I just want from OC to give a fair chance for 4-5-1 and see how it's going. Can't be much worse than this.
