How did Riley, Connolly, Blakeman, Vela, Eaves and O'Halloran play?

So-so. Eaves was MoM for me.

Tell you something, that Stephen Warnock is shite (but didn't enjoy me telling him that)

Habib Beye was playing as well wasn't he?
And I'm sure Villa are supposed to have a good reserve team.

I must have watched a different game as I thought Eaves was distinctly average, particularly in the first half. The game improved in the second and i thought Tope and Connolly were the shining lights out of team. The goal was an impressive breakaway and what a finish by O'Hallaron in all a well deserved victory.

Form we're on, I reckon we could push on and win the league.
Shame about our dreadful first half of the season.

While it's a shame over the poor start to the season, all that really counts is that the reserve team is developing and improving as the season progresses. Of that there is no question. Hopefully they will finish strong and gain confidence as a result.

Not really

What is important is that individuals are developing

The team and its results are irrelevant - it might be a sign we have players of promise, equally, it might not

We need outstanding players coming thru, players of real quality, not a dozen functional ones who make a successful team at that level

Years back, when the first team were poor, the reserves won their league - don't think any of them made a mark at first team level, for us or anywhere else

Think it was in Phil Neals day, under Steve Carroll
