Goal-line technology has today been approved (two versions, I believe)

This should be interesting :D

I like the Lalas response:

Not a fan of it at all. It moves the sport even further from that which can be played on the parks.

However, IF it is kept for this single event then so what ? But it won't be.

Next will be cries for offsides to be reviewed, then corners/goalkicks ... everything. An instance late the season before last summed up the impossibility of this when a player handled the ball on the line, it hit the bar & became a "did it, didn't it cross the line" moment. Are we seriously saying that the line decision would be made and, while doing that the handball, clearly seen would be ignored ?

Ah well, I'm getting bored of all this football anyway.

Now, if they start using it to catch & punish diving I think it may be a price worth paying.

Ah, well, second-opinion technoloy is next. There was a time when, if a ball hit a white line it was out. Now it's in if 95% of it is actually out. Exceptions will be made of course where Joey Barton and Ballotelli are concerned as they have their own rules.

5 officials in the Premiership? As if the referees aren't getting enough grief, now they want them stood behind the goal getting abuse all match as they seemingly do nothing?

Goal-line technology is the way forward. About time it was introduced.

How often will goal line technology be needed, once every blue moon or two or three times a year during the whole season??

How often does an offside or penalty or foul need reviewing from a fourth offical in the stand, probably at least a dozen times in every game.!!! The intoduction of such a system would protect the interity of the game, yet they go for the show pony only!!

So sad, but a small step in the right direction I guess.
