Just out of interest... we were unsure - the forum was quite split - about selling him to West Ham..

this season - he's made 17 appearances in their 32 games and scored once...

that's in a side winning most weeks in the championship...

Yeah it was a master stroke to sell him. We've never looked back since at all. Petrov has been so good and scored so many he's been allowed a little rest.

Now we are top six we can afford to rest him anyways.

It was that Taylor who's held us back all this time....

He's been injured this season but when fit he'd walk, nay crawl back into our side, quite comfortably!

Yeah so the decision of whether it's right to sell or release a player is based on how they do elsewhere the following season?

We should have flogged Petrov to that MLS side that bid for him and kept Taylor, cos at least Taylor was up for a battle in a relegation scrap.

Now Petrov has fallen out with Coyle and not even in the match day squads...

how on earth do you come up with that conclusion from anything I wrote? It doesn't even begin to make sense.

Mesen...always liked Taylor, and I think he'd have had a big part to play this year. Honestly think for all the crosses Petrov has put in, he hasn't really created very many chances (might not be his fault that nobody there, but still..). Taylor would've left us less exposed. Equally, always gave 100% took a good corner/freekick. That said, given it seemed Coyle didn't rate him, thought we got a good fee, and invested it in places it was needed.

Pretty much sums it up (apart from the "always liked Taylor" bit). I think we are missing Taylor's set pieces as our free kicks and corners are woeful. Petrov is a much better player in open play as he has pace where Taylor was snail-like. Taylor slightly better defensively but still not great.

I would still take Petrov over Taylor.

Matty Taylor is absolute garbage and I was delighted when we sold him. Ran like his laces were tied together, made Kevin Davies look like Usain Bolt. His shooting was worse than Muamba's in that he regularly blasted over and wide.

His stats for West Ham sum up how shit he is and how lucky we were to get a fee for him.

Useful for his dead ball skills though. That goal against Burnley away was a bloody peach. We don't have anyone at the club who can do that now.

Or anyone who can properly take a corner or a crossed free kick.

Maybe I'm not rememebring this right, but didn't Taylor do fck all with his dead ball attempts for like the last 12 months he was here?

You are dead right he did fcuk all with his dead ball attempts for the last 12months, he looked like he was going through the motions with us didn't want to be here. He blamed at lot of his shit performances on being ill? what every fcuking game!. Glad we got a decent fee for him because we could not of carried him for much longer. People seem to forget that Petrov has put loads off world class balls in the box this season but our forward line haven't converted them, missing Taylor my arse!

i think a 'scarlett fevered , on his deathbed' matthew taylor would still score more goals than a fully fit martin petrov.

:/
