If he does stay this season i hope he is stripped of the captaincy. Doesn't deserve it if he doesn't want to play for us. Though that didn't stop Wenger sticking with Fab as captain...

If you don't sell him, which I think would be monumentally stupid to chuck so much money away keeping him for a season if he's made his mind up, and you strip the captaincy from him, why not just relegate him to the reserves?

Why do all these players believe they have to leave to win things? Then they do leave and do actually win things. Perhaps that should tell you something.....

I'm disapointed in him. He's been injured for about 6 and a half years of the 8 he's been with us, had one great season and now he's buggering off. I honestly feel he owes us a bit more loyalty then that. Maybe that's stupid in this day and age to hope for that, but Wenger and the club stood by him injury after injury, paying him very genorous wages and this is how he re-pays us? Fine, i understand he wants to win trophies and maybe he would stand more chance elsewhere, but Wenger has made some good signings already this close season and i honestly think we will be and around next season for league and cups. His family are supposedly happy in England but i guess also we can't offer him the £'s the likes of Man City can...

Hope he enjoys warming Man Citys physio table.

You really think you will be there or thereabouts? Really?

Cos I think the football world is leaving your club and it's lack of spending and stubborn manager behind.

With Robin i think we would have been, without him far less sure. We have Wilshere back this season - he will be a big plus. Not saying we would have won the league but i think closer then last year and a cup wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility with RVP - as for without him, really depends on how the new boys peform.

Is it right he will miss the start of the season?

probably only for the first month hopefully. And half of that is normally internationals IIRC...

But from what I've read he says it has nowt to do with money (though didn't one of your others say that about players going to City before going there himself?) and is all to do with the club's way of wanting to go about things differing from his own ideals.

Personally I think he's just drawing a line in the sand - he's far from an ex-Gooner yet, I'd say. Keep calm.

If it was just about money, he'd stay at Arsenal and earn a feckin' name your price shitload there. As it stands, he wants a move to a big club where he can win pots.

Can't really blame him for that. It's practically the same ad Cahill moving to Chelsea. You've just got to hold your hands up and say "well, fair play, he's showing ambition"

Blame the stubborn, arrogant, scrotum face, ambition-less French twt who's in charge.

It's a shame that Abs isn't around, I'd love to hear what pearls of wisdom he's got on the subject.

Thing is i'm not sure it would be a name your price at Arsenal. Wenger can't (or won't) compete with the big spending teams wages wise. Having said that, i agree, am sure its not all just money related. He does want to win things and feels he can't at Arsenal. I'm just pissed off that after 6 years of never really fulfilling his potential through injury he then has one great season and buggers off. I know theres no loyalty in football anymore but it still makes me angry.

Hmmm...... I'm getting....... Elmander!

Happens through football I'm afraid GG. You know, your club's ability to hold onto players and win trophies is remarkably similair to ours.

But who are you more pissed off with though? The club for not matching Van Persie's ambition, or Van Persie for thinking that he's not going to win owt with you for as long as the management hold the ridiculous belief that you can somehow skinflint your way to the Champions League by bringing in players from Southampton and such like? :conf:

That's it.. The money is there for Wenger, but he won't spend it, because if he carries on NOT delivering, then he has to be accountable rather than moan about other clubs outspending him.

Oh and Goonergirl. Arsenal weren't offering him a mars bar for wages were they? between £130,000 and £150,000 I heard.

That's up there with most top earners at the big clubs.

Not strictly true, the clueless one and his twunks could not manage to find anyone who could keep us up last season so he chucked a few bob on a 'future proven championship player' so it looked like he tried.

Top story on the Beeb. :conf:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18786041

Quote:
Aaron Ramsey will be consulted on whether Ryan Shawcross should be invited to represent Wales.

Ramsey's leg was broken in six places in 2010 after a tackle by Shawcross and Wales manager Chris Coleman admits his captain could be reluctant to play alongside the Stoke City defender.

"There are issues there. I'm not going to shy away from that," said Coleman.

Shawcross, born in Chester, qualifies for Wales having spent five years of compulsory education in the country.

That ruling, introduced by Fifa in 2009, has led to England-born midfielder Andy Dorman winning three caps for Wales.

Shawcross, who like Dorman was raised in north east Wales, stated in 2011 he had no intention of playing for Wales, preferring instead to attempt to make his way into the England squad.

The 24-year-old centre back has failed to do so, and Coleman is now contemplating another approach.

Ramsey ignored Shawcross's initial attempts at an apology in the immediate aftermath of the tackle that caused six fractures in his tibia and fibula.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger described the Shawcross challenge as "horrendous and unacceptable" and there has been significant tension between the Gunners and Stoke since.

Coleman is also keen to recruit Swansea City right-back Angle Rangel and Cardiff City defender Ben Turner to his squad before the start of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers in September.

Rangel, born in Spain, qualifies on residency grounds having lived in Wales for five years. The 29-year-old has said he would consider representing his adopted country.

Turner, eligible through his Welsh grandparents, impressed Coleman in keeping Luis Suarez quiet in the Carling Cup final against Liverpool.

"Ryan Shawcross, Ben Turner, Angel Rangel - these are good players and players that could possibly strengthen us," said Coleman.

"But if I was going to go down that road, the first person I would speak to, especially in terms of Ryan, would be Aaron.

"I'd have that conversation with Aaron first and foremost because there are issues there.

"I'm not going to shy away from that. But can we improve Wales?"
